Keraton Yogyakarta

Keraton YogyakartaKraton (palace) Kasultanan Yogyakarta is located in Yogyakarta downtown. More than 200 years ago, this place is a bog named Umbul Pacetokan, then built by Prince Mangkubumi becomes a guesthouse named AyodyaPada. In 1955 there was Giyanti agreement which divided two empire of Mataram become Ksunanan Surakarta lead by Sunan Pakubuwono III and Kasultanan Ngayogyakarta lead by Mangkubumi Prince then titled of Hamengkubuwono I. Hereinafter, Pesanggrahan (Hall) Ayodya Sultan built to become Kraton Kasultanan Yogyakarta.

Borobudur

Borobudur TempleBorobudur is a ninth century Mahayana Buddhist monument in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia. The monument comprises six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha statues. A main dome is located at the center of the top platform, and is surrounded by seventy-two Buddha statues seated inside perforated stupa.

The monument is both a shrine to the Lord Buddha and a place for Buddhist pilgrimage. The journey for pilgrims begins at the base of the monument and follows a path circumambulating the monument while ascending to the top through the three levels of Buddhist cosmology, namely, Kamadhatu (the world of desire); Rupadhatu (the world of forms); and Arupadhatu (the world of formless). During the journey, the monument guides the pilgrims through a system of stairways and corridors with 1,460 narrative relief panels on the wall and the balustrades.

Prambanan Temple

Prambanan TemplePrambanan is the ruins of a Hindu temple complex located 17 km east of Yogyakarta, along the Yogya-Solo highway. As it is sitting on a volcanic plain, the Prambanan complex is actually vulnerable to earthquakes as well as volcanic eruptions.

Prambanan was completed around 856 AD, to commemorate the victory of Rakai Pikatan, of the Sanjaya Dynasty, over Balaputra, the ruler of the Sailendra Dynasty. (The Sailendra Dynasty is the one attributed for the construction of Borobudur, so the two monuments were built no more than a century apart - however Borobudur is a Buddhist monument while Prambanan is Hindu.)
